Just like icing a cake

Thursday
You might remember a few months ago that I had the cement rendering in the front (older) part of the house done. That left the back (newer) part in its original condition. The newer part of the house wasn’t double brick, and the inside was gyprock. Over the years, cracks had started to develop in the gyprock. I knew I had to repair the cracks and start getting the walls ready for painting, even though painting was a fair way off.

So, armed with some putty and a little tool that looked much like a spatula, I went about filling in the cracks. “Just like icing a cake,” I thought to myself. My brother and sister also wanted in on the fun, so they came over to help. You’ll only see photos of my brother and sister doing the job because I was taking the photos and, well, you wouldn’t be taking me seriously as a champion renovator if you saw the photos of me dressed in pink flannelette pajamas, standing on a ladder and filling in cracks.

PS. The cracks returned within 2 months. The job must be repeated. Grrr… at least I hadn’t painted yet.
