Dear H&G We are planning on renovating in the next six months and, accordingly, I have been purchasing your House and Garden magazine. Browsing through your magazine each month, as well as the houses on-line, has helped me to see that decorating is not just about being drawn into and following what is currently fashionable, but that I can feel free to follow my own sense of adventure and style and still achieve a beautiful and inspiring look. Thanks for featuring a wide variety of homes as well as showcasing the latest and greatest in home fashion!

Melbourne neighbours Fiona Harrison and Kate Vale share a driveway – and more. “We open out gares into each other’s backyards and the kids can run freely from house to house,” says Fiona. “My daughter Löpel, who’s three, and my son Tenzin, who’s one, are friends with Kate’s four-year-old daughter, Maya.” The children feel so comfortable in each other’s homes that they’ll often eat dinner at both. Kate, who’s pregnant, says Fiona helps her in many ways. “She’ll pick Maya up from crèche if I’m late from work and if she is going somewhere with her kids, she will often ask if Maya can join in.” Such is the bond between the families that Kate and her husband retracted an offer on a house they wanted to buy because Maya was so sad at moving away. “We don’t have family in Melbourne, so we feel very lucky to have such a brilliant relationship with our neighbours.

I have been subscribing for two years and I want to say thankyou! The magazine is helping to plan for our home purchase next year. It has taught me to plan, save money and explore ideas.This month's magazine arrived as I was trying to work out how to fit my idea of a couch with a stripe in with my desire for floor boards and a persion rug. I wasn't sure it would work. This months magazine had a picture with exactly that so I know what I want WILL work! My kids and garden also thankyou for keeping us healthy!
